New Cousins:   We haven't found nearly all of you yet!

Louis Christinat/Christenot came from Chabrey, Vaud, Switzerland in 1818 and settled in Delmar, Tioga, Pennsylvania; he had four children; three were married.  Margaret married Benjamin Smith; Rudolph married Adaline Austin, and Frederick married Asenath Sanford.

Almost our entire mailing list are descendants of Charles Frederick Christenot, a son of Frederick & Asenath.  Just one branch of our Family Tree!  That means that hundreds of you are unknown to us.

If you are descended from Louis Christenot, please contact us and join the family!

Originally, our name was Christinat. Louis spelled that way, tho I don't know if he was consistent. Sons Rudolph and Frederick spelled it different ways. They had original spelling assistance from county clerks, census takers and reporters. (Christinat, Christinot, Christenat, Christenot, Christenott and Christnot, I've seen.) Most of Frederick's descendants have settled on Christenot for the last 3-4 generations.
In Europe, Christinat is the preferred spelling. When we see Christenot or Christnot, we assume it's our branch of the family.
One grandaughter of Clemma's line suggests the name comes from Christ-Knight. We may want to research the origin of it.
